Gray interior with black carpet? How's it look?

What do you guys think? I'm gonna be swapping my burgandy interior out for gray and am not sure what color carpet to use. I have a really nice black stock carpet that I took out of a car at the yard and was thinking about using it. Do you think it will look ok to have black carpeting and gray everything else? Or should I just wait and get a gray carpet?

I did that on my old 2nd gen. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it and the car is now in rotary heaven. I liked it. I also painted the radio surround black as well.

Sorry about the craptastic quality, and the forgetting to change the color of the seat belt, lol

i have an 84 it had all grey interior but i wanted all black so i used some carpet out of an 82 g that was black and painted everything grey balck with some interior paint took me about a total of two weeks ooh yeah i replaced the seats with some black leather chrystler conquest seats that worked out perfect with a little custom modifacations and my interior is one of the cleanest interiors on rex i have ever seen it all worked out perfect. personally i dont like the red on black inside mind you my paint color of the 84 is red with powdercoated LE wheels with a polished lip and all black interior even the seatbelts are swapped.

my 82 came with an all black interior, seats, door panals, carpet. i installed 85 -SE door panals and seats that are/were grey. i had to make a hole in each for the manual windows and shorten the window cranks to use the door panals. i've replaced the -SE seats since with TurboII seats(cloth) it doesn't look all that bad with some grey but grey carpet shows to much dirt, fast IMO.

My 85 gs came with that nasty maroon color so we changed it to a gray and black interior.... i think it gives it a pretty clean look.... i have pics of it at www.cardomain.com/id/rotaryep12a

That doesn't look bad. Always better to have a real example than a photochop. Especially if the car in question is an 84/85, lol.

Yeah, looks pretty good, your dash does look alot darker. I'm stoked! I think I'm gonna do it. My friend just swapped his interior out for gray and has been asking to help me with mine. He wants me to do it already. It was the carpet that was holding me up. Since the consensus on the forum seems to be that 90% of the aftermarket carpet sucks, I was gonna use stock carpet. I know the gray gets real dirty and I have a nice black one (and nice black storage bins that the hinges aren't busted on!

That decides it for sure then. I do think black/grey interiors look nice. Just not my thing Seems like it isn't accented enough.

I'm still confused on the green comment, though.

as with the radio, there's certain 'classic' things we must sacrifice, if you ask me.

My tan looks classic, too (well, more of a late eighties thing) but I'm sure not keeping it.

if tha black carpet is a little dirty i used some carpet shampoo and my hose and soaked the **** outa the carpet when it was dry man it looked brand new i also taped off and scuffed the plastic foot mats on the carpet then layed some interior black paint on and that really toped it all off for the carpet.

Doesn't that car look green or blue, doesn't go with the red. I know it's just a photoshop but thought it was funny.

Well, my interior is all black. I love it. Black is IMO the best looking colour on a 7, but I'm partial since I have only owned a black 7. But the only part of my interior that isn't black are the seats. They are red leather seats out of an 84 with a red interior. They actually look kinda like old fasion Recardo's sitting in there.

I have a 83 with a black dash and headliner with gsl-se grey door panels, seats, carpet, storage bins and rear plastic. At first I wasn't sure how it would look but it matches pretty good. That red/black and aqua combo just isn't right.
