After you have had your timeout in the corner, post details. What is the car doing/not doing, what have you done, looked at, checked, etc.

I often have to take timeouts myself so I know your frustration all to well. During timeouts, if I ignore the problem, I sometimes find a solution, or new thing to try subconciously.

Btw, there is a local mechanic, you're it. Keep at it.

I like that.... There's a whole lot of grey matter at your disposal on this forum. Feed it information, and it will impart wisdom unto you.

These things can get really frustrating, But don't give up. Me and my friend are fighting with his AE86 and cannot get it to run right to save are lives. But if you give up, that is quitting and nobady likes a quitter.

I'm gonna ask the obvious questions. Did you check all of the spark plug wires and spark plugs?

Absolutely!

Cap/rotor/plugs should be your next investment.

Look in the FAQ section for the 2nd gen ignition mod, and do that (20 dollar investment).

Dump a couple ounces of Seafoam down the carb while running, and put the rest in the tank when it is nearly empty. This will clear the carbon and free up stuck apex seals.

i would also check your coils. if you are getting weak spark and the rear rotor is nto working it could possibly be the coils if i remember right. definately do the cap/rotor and wires as well as new plugs. how many miles?

Add a full can to 1/8 tank of gas and drive it hard. There are other methods (dumping down carb, in through a vacuum line, etc.) but I consider all of those to be a waste of product. Just put it in the tank and it will work great.

on a more serious note. start with a complete tune up. it sounds generic and dumb, but you really need to know your starting point with these cars before you go tinkering with things that are not broken.

Pictures? And is it a GS, a GSL or a GSLSE?

Also this is some very good advice from diabolical1:

"start with a complete tune up. it sounds generic and dumb, but you really need to know your starting point with these cars before you go tinkering with things that are not broken"

It sounds like you are expecting way too much for a 20+ year old car, no matter how good it looks. Chances are you are going to have to fix several things unless you paid a lot of money and got some guarantees, so expect trouble, don't get frustrated by it.

And if you would provide a bunch more useful information of this sort:

"but all the plugs and wires seem to be workin fine...when i test them for spark by puttin the end of the plug on metal there is spark but u can hardly see it.... is there such thing as not getting enough spark?????"

Then the guys and gals on this forum will fix it for you, all you need to do is run the tests, turn the wrench and be smart enough to understand what you are doing. Also, the search function and a shop manual are extremely useful, if you haven't discovered these yet.

If this sounds like too much work, then you might want to look around for a later model Civic, they are pretty much trouble free.
