Got my 85 finally...

Ok so here is the story...
I been looking for the car a while since I wanted the 85 GSL SE model and with low milage, no damage, no rust, original and absolutely no mods...
So I find one but things did not work out as I had to wait for one person that had talk to the guy before me and he got the car... So I keep my search and I find another one.
I talk to the guy and I see the pictures on line... I decided to buy the car and I go to meet up with him in Las Vegas on April 14. The guy is over 70 years old and the car was maily garaged... I give him the money, he gives me the title... One problem I live in Miramar Florida (next to Miami)

I have a contracted a company to go and pick the car up and deliver to me. I just got the car today... I took forever and a half but i finally got it and with the car and with it I got some pretty good stuff, he gave me;
car cover
Original documents such as;
1.the original sticker from the dealer that describes the vehicle and goes on the window when the car is displayed ! car was purchased for 15,860.00.
2.original mazda owners driving log
3. the mazda high value engineering; the story behind your new mazda booklet in perfect condition
4. original owners manual
5. original 1985 mazda accesories booklet
6. rx-7customer 10 min maintenance course
7. original warranty papers (not that is useful now...)
8. Rotary Rocket magazine from RX-7 club of america 10 aniv edition june 1988
9. the original brochure for 1985
10. Rotary Rocket collectors edition from december 1985
11. Buyer's guide 1985 which features the RX-7 comparison test

Car is in perfect shape and I mean perfect shape...

So I am one happy owner...

Nice! I got mine exactly like that, my owner was a touch younger though, around 50. No damage/rust/mods...completely original and I'm keeping it that way...except for a few upkeep things here and there. It's one hell of a car to own. Mine's even the same color, interior and exterior, except my seats are maroon leather.

Congrats!!!

a super looking car - drive safe keep her looking beautiful.

cool stuff to get with it, gotta love those old guys and the care the put into their mid life crisis car purchases. - we will be them someday.

any chance you could scan in the cover of that Rotary Rocket collector mag and post it?

some other pics would be super too.

One WARNING though, please take this very seriously PLEASE I speak from past experience. I once had a super nice 84 GSL, it was stolen while parked in Miami and found stripped a week later. I towed it home, spent approx 8 months rebuilding and finally had it back on the road. Stupid me, I drove it back to an area in Miami and it was stoeln and stripped again. It was found in worse shape the the 1st time. I left it at the salvage yard.

I was told by Miami Dade Police of a car theft gang or street gang - WHATEVER -called the MAZDA_BOYZ (whatever) and they REALLY LIKE cars like YOURS - (mine).

So, as a fellow 1st gen guy, I advise you PLEASE PLEASE install a super duper theft system and keep parked in a garage.

Just a WARNING, I would really hate to hear you had it stolen.

These mint (any condition would not matter) RX7's are highly prized by the evil-doers.

have fun, lock her up and dont leave unattended for too long. lojack may be your first upgrade.

OK, does it have the red leather interior? Then it's worth the $5000+ for sure, but it looks like it might even be if it has the velour.

Nice find!

I do not have a scanner but I will try to get that to you... Thanks for the warning.. the car is strictly a toy. It is at my garage and it will not be a daily driver... I will however get an alarm and potentially a lo-jack system.
I will post pics soon...

Thanks.. like I said I payed for what I wanted... It's funny how things are I showed the car to some people and i was offered twice the amount I payed for and i said no...

By the way the seats are cloth and they look like they were never used... I took the seats out, cleaned them then cleaned the interior of the car and the rug is like new as well...

Wow i think I need to go Clean out my pants...oops TMI Sry lol Dude that's a freaking Amazing Find OMFG! youre lucky! man o man looks and sounds mint...don't you love it when you find your dream car and the guy that owns it loved it and took as much care of it as you would, but still doesn't really know what he or she has?(well, to an extent) My cousin got his 1985 Rx-7 S mint condition with just the clear coat coming off same color as yours with almost all the documents missing or least we thought until we pulled the dash out and found the papers in a plastic bag taped to the firewall! Hell Yea! we yelled to high heaven lol, but all together the car was...........*drum roll*.............$2,000 Cash! nice right? Man i love your car!
P.S. Keep alot of wax on that car here in FL cause the Clear Coat on that paint color absorbes alot of UV light and will start to Peel!

thats exactly what i was told, by the officer that took my report - twice - (not the same cop). they strip them down and build up theirs for street or drag strip racing, use the parts for their wrecks. dont know how it stands now, with more civics and such, but i gotta believe the rotary engine is highly sought after due to the "fast and furious" crowd. i also believe the latino population in general kinda like the rotary, add the gang element, and MIAMI = bad news for 7 fans wanting to keep their toys.

once again, thanks... Like i said it is my toy.. I have a toyota celica 99 convertible that i use daily.. I am also in the process of getting another rx7... is an 83 gsl... once I get it i will let you know the condition..
As for the 85 gsl se It is still sitting in the garage.. this weekend I will be painting the underneath of the car... I always do that. It will be glossy black...

Im not sure what I am going to do with the 83 once I get it... but I know that i will not leave it stock like im planning to do with the 85. that is for sure.
