Like any other vehicle the speed is not limited by the speedo, it is limited by the govenor (if equipped) and what your vehicle can do. Your car can probably do over a hundred unless you have something really wrong with it.

When the national speed limit was lowered to 55 mph, many of the manufacturers lowered the speedo limit. Model years after your's had higher speedos, with no changes in the capabilities of the car.

By the way...your car will go considerably faster than 85. I don't know the FB's top speed, but it's got to be a hell of a lot faster than 85.

I've taken mine to about 95 so far, and it had pleeenty of room to go faster. Granted, mine's an SE, but I'd imagine it wouldn't make that much difference.

Put your headlights down and you can go faster than 125 in that SA22! (picture)

I was clocked and ticketed at 105/65 years and years (and years) ago in my 80LS, so don't believe that 85mph speedometer!
