Smile Goodbye 1st Geners, I'll miss ya!

Hey Guys, as can be seen in this post: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/pressure-cooling-system-419153/ it is apparent to me I have in fact blown a coolant seal on "Shadow" . My current plans for her at this point are unknown, I might sell her, might part her out, might put her in storage for a full TII swap. I have played the "keep throwing money into it till it works" game before on another car, and I don't want to play it again any time soon. I know rebuild kits and seals etc. etc. might "only" be $200, but there are other issues with the car, and I'm afraid as of right now there are other priorities in my life that I must attend to (Primarily getting my grades up and graduating college with a B.S. in Computer Science and Business from Lehigh University). I really don't know what I'm going to do. But I do know I won't be doing anything to her any time soon, and will most likley end up selling her. My first car was an RX-7 (1987 base model) and a friend told me about this web page. Most of the 2nd genners really aren't too nice. Eventually I got my FB (there is a thread, search "got me a free gsl-se" and it should show up) and found out that this section of the forum is much much nicer, and much more helpful and less likley to flame unnecessarily. For that I thank you, specifically guys like LongDuck, rx7doctor, cdrad, manntis, etc. etc. etc. (even gregs from time to time ). So for the time being, and possibly for good, this is my farewell. Hopefully in another year or so I will return to the forum, but I will have become a 3rd genner... time will tell. I will stop in from time to time to hopefully help some of you out but as time fades, so will my posts.

Thanks again to all who have helped me out!

Cheers,
~Andrew Q

Wink Put her in storage for later

good luck with your colledge andrew, it will allow you to throw as much money as you want at shadow in the future, BTW the 3rd gen forum is almost as nasty as the 2nd gen forum, I always where my flame suit when I visit them.

Possibly the sub boxes. Everything else is going to be transplanted into my 86 maxima station wagon, send me a PM and I'll try to get back to you in about a month, finals are coming up so they have all my focus right now. My guesstimate is with shipping I would like about $150-$200 for the boxes

You'll be back. 1st genners never really leave it seems. I haven't worked on my first gen for over 4 months. Thought about selling it and all, but decided to keep it. Just recently I started getting sick of just looking at it and wishing what it could be. So, I'm going to start work on it again soon. I just can't stay away from it it seems.

But if you do move on and sell the car, good luck in future adventures. BTW, from my experience in the 2nd gen forum, they are the nastyest people I have met. Not all of them, but its sooooo hard to get help there.

Well, as much as you think this might suck, priorities are important. As someone else stated, school is much more important than any car, and you really need to focus on that - it will pay off big dividends in the long run, and is an investment.

Good luck, and see you back here eventually,

You can always buy another car or find storage for this one till you get more cash. (*sigh* mine's been in storage for 4 years now.) Of you'll get that FD you say you wanted... Good luck with college man. It's the right choice.

EDIT:How much for the core engine?

Hey Pele (and this goes for the rest of the guys PMing me right now for parts and stuff)

as of right now the fate of the car as a whole is unknown. but, if I do decide to part it out, I will only part out things I don't want to keep when/if I do a TII swap. The engine does fall under this category. As of right now I don't know ANY prices of anything that I MIGHT sell, I will be able to give more information in a few months (Late June) when I get back from my international internship in the Czech Republic. Also, obviously, I would rather NOT ship things out esp. things like an engine core and would like to sell them locally if I sell them at all. Pele falls under this category since the car will be located in Rockville, Maryland and I will get back to him about the engine before I offer it to anybody else. Send me PM's with parts you want (that aren't necessary for after a TII swap) and I will eventually get back to you with prices and such... this is keeping in mind IF I decide to part her out. Right now I just don't know.

Put a V-8 in it! No just kidding.........good luck in the future and " You'll be back"!

And yes, this section is much nicer than the 3rd geners! Those people are rediculous. Guy sells his for a profit to invest and go to college and all the guys that helped him tell him that their time is money and blah blah blah.........********!

Hey all,
It's been rediculously hard not to drive Shadow all over the place, but since my last post I hadn't driven it at all. Today I drove her home (200 miles) and have decided that I will not drive her again. She is up for sale. ::sigh::
