Exclamation Good streetable clutch

i have a 12a street port racing beat exhaust . and i want a better clutch , i am going to pull the motor and trannie this winter to take care of some cleaning that has bothered me and i want a good clutch that will not make the car unmanageable to drive from time to time ... i also want to race it every now and then . any experience would be greatly apretiated , also if there is someone that has any knowledge of upgrading the transmission while i have it out ... that would be good too .

Stock disc with a heavy duty pressure plate, unless you plan on doing many hard launches, i.e., drag strip. Then you get a puck/button clutch that can be a pita to drive in stop and go traffic, even worse in rain and nearly impossible in the snow.

A good quality OEM replacement should be more than sufficient. That said, I think I'm going to try the cheap-assed F1 branded clutches that you can find on eBay next year. Their 'Stage 1' kit is the same price as an Exedy OEM replacement and I'm curious to see if it holds up any better.

I agree with the first part. But I have a 6 puck with a HD PP and it is actually really easy to drive. You will not need something this beefy though and I would just stick to what was said above...

I want to watch you drive that REW in the snow, that would be fun no matter what clutch you have. lol

I'm guessing your 6 puck is sprung which is easier on starts than an unsprung 4 puck.

The stock clutch has been fine for me on the stockport 12A. I even replaced it with another stock one cause I figured I will not have enough power to exceed the stock for a long time.

what about a pressure plate ? i want better launches , if a stock disk will work well with a better pressure plate then would that really be a better way to go ?

I have a sprung brass 4 puck and it's great. No problem at all once you get used to driving with clutches like that.

I drove with a stage 3 Clutchmasters in my Integra, so the stock RX-7 clutch feels like a baby clutch compared to that one.
