good replacements for stock brake pads

So....
I roasted my brake pads today, and i'm in need of some new ones. For the time being I'm going to order up some stock pads from the local parts store, but what would be a good, high performance brake pad? I've heard of Hawk Blue's and EBC Green, but do either make pads for the FB? I need pads for the front of an '82.

You'll probably want Hawk HPS or HP+ for the street. The blues are a race pad.

I'm going to be putting the Hawk HPS on mine.

HPS owner here, fronts on an 82 as well. I get comments that it brakes as well as a 4 wheel disc. Great stopping power, and very little fade from 110 to 30. A touch dusty though, but love them!

I had a set of Hawk HPS on my '03 Z... ended up taking them off about halfway thru their service life. They do indeed stop very well... but they are very, very noise-prone, at least in that application, and yes, quite dusty.

Wailed like banshees when they were cold, no matter how clean I kept them, nor how many different "silencing" strategies I used.

It just got too embarrassing tooling thru the neighborhood, with the wheels looking and sounding like I was down to using the backplates as pads.

Try HP+ pads and then complain about HPS brake dust....hard to even compare. 500 miles on my HP+ pads on the FD and the wheels are hard to see. But as far as braking goes, both have always worked great for me. The +'s have more initial bite, but it is hard to tell a difference in total brake distance. Blues are a race compound and will destroy your rotors on the street since the pads won't reach the proper temperature.

Back about 5 years ago I got some pads from NAPA (they where the "premium" pad) and they where great, slow wear, very little dust, and took quite a few 160+ mph stops to experience any kind of fade. However I looked for them recently and it looks like they have different names now, hopefully the pads are the same. Most the people that rode in my car always asked me if I had after market brakes, and I aways replied "nope, stock with napa pads" lol.
