good colors?
Such a PERSONAL choice really, aint it? Black will probably be the worst, but then ANY GOOD paint job done right, is gonna be good. . .
My fav - here in Australia, we have a new Falcon BA GT. . .it has the most awesome Metalic Blue paint I have ever seen on a car - it would look GREAT on a "7". (If only I could afford to do it!!!!)

Whatever you do, go with ANYTHING but yellow (I'm being sarcastic). Yellow holds a lot of grime so you don't have to wash your car as often. Yellow, while attracting a lot of attention, also increases visibility of your car to other drivers, possibly helping to avoid a side-swipe accident, or even when drivers pull out of side streets - greater visibility means better accident avoidance. While some people look at yellow cars as attention-getters, there aren't that many yellow cars out on the roads today. Most manufacturers know that buyers don't like yellow, so not many new cars are coming off the lines in factory yellow.
Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini all sell their top of the line cars in signature yellow colors - is there any other reason?

Personally, I like black. Yes it does show imperfections in the paint a little more easily, but it is the best looking colour on an RX-7. Another of my favorites is white. White will show dirt very easily, but generally won't show the imperfections in the paint as easily. You could go to a blueish colour. It doesn't show a shine quite as nicely as black or white, but it really doesn't show imperfections or dirt either. My Buick is a sky blue, it doesn't shine up real nice like some colours but it looks nice. IMO, red is the worst colour on an FB. FC's are ok in red, but not FB's.

I just picked up a car myself, and man is the paint on it terrible. I am going to paint it either Monte Carlo blue from an S2000 (as I just crossed from the Honda camp):
Or the blue from the 2000 Lexus IS300s:
I am not sure which yet. Luckily the body on the car is amazingly dent free so I won't have to much to do besides prep it for paint.

I have DOdge Viper Yellow, i love it, its not a pale yellow, nor a screaming in your face yellow. It DOES like to attract dirt though. It looks fabulous and is altogether a tight @$$ color.

As do heaps in Aus. . . maybe Aus buyer LIKE yellow!
The color that I got for my '7' is the same color as used for the Mazda 6 for 2004 - Mazda Factory Code BZ-21T, "Chrome Yellow Clearcoat".
This was the best way for me to 'update' the look of the car, to go with something more current.

I'd much rather like the blue an black interior.. but I do have blue and brown and dont mind it at all. rotaryrevn, you should goto the 1st gen pics section, and look up my name.. you will be able to look at a BIG picture of my car, as well as the brown interior.

I like the Mazda factory V9 custom metallic silver/gray. Looks so good when contrasting with the black trim. Very classy, very inconspicuous.
With a brown interior you might want to consider the yellow - they should look very good together.
With the brown (I'm assuming dark brown), you should stay away from the blues, silvers, grays or even black. Earth tones will work better, ie; brown (doh), white, green, or yellow / gold.
Bottom line, match your interior to the exterior or you will be clashin colors.
