Best investment: Racing Beat Streetport Exhaust system

Worst investment: 12A from a junkyard with "unknown mileage, probably low" that blew up a week later. Found out it had 190,000 miles on it, and the oil seals were blown.

Best upgrade: Buying my wife that cleavage enhancing bra with low cut shirt.

worst: cutting the exhaust off my car.

best investment - took a chance on a donor car just for the motor. kid bought it a few months earlier, shadetree rebuild... 800 bucks for a motor with unknown mileage and durability, says he owned the car for 2000 miles. 20000 miles later, it's still running strong.

worst investment - some rotor shaped rims. shelled out almost 500 bucks for them. they came, really nice wheels, really slick, but they're the wrong damn bolt pattern. even though they were optional equipment back in the day, no one seemed to remember that they were 4x114.3 bolt pattern instead of 4x110. now they sit, unused, and apparently no one wants to buy them i'll sell them for $250 for the first guy who can shell out the money. they DO fit on an SE

wait a minute, you mean having autolite spark plugs is going to mess up my engine? I'm just using mine until the car is actually running, then I'll switch to NGK's. Also when I change my oil...which weight of oil doesn't blow the dowel pin seals, 5W-30?

Best investment: Yokohama Avid T4 tires in the stock size. $176 shipped from discounttire.com and $45 mounted and balanced at Wal-Mart. Vast improvement over crappy generic tires and makes suspension upgrades really shine.

Worst: The CP Racing R&P kit. It's not that I don't like it; it's just not worth $550. It was also a huge pain in the *** to install and get going.

Really?Mine took a little pushing to get all the mounting holes lined up,but it went in pretty easy. The oilpan is close but it doesnt hit.
Id speculate that every car has its own bit of "tweak" to the chassis depending on age and usage, but other than a safety concern with the solid steel roll pin in the shaft,I had no issues with my install. The Ujoints did clunk a little, but its completely gone now.(8 months)

Worst mod,hmmmmm
gotta say, backlit gauges that said,"green and blue" on the ad,but only had blue when I got em.

Best mod,RB lightweight flywheel. Not really cheap, but instant, very obvious affect on performance.Since the first one I put on my old 12A,all 4 engines thereafter have had one.

I haven't done much to my car, so theres not much GOOD BAD or UGLY

Best: Grant GT steering wheel. Feels so much better than the old ratty, worn out OE wheel. Now all I have to do is hook up the horn...

Worst: Bought some used coils but I had no use for em! Guess they're spares. Ebay is the devil btw.

jimmyjoejoe: what's the dimensions on those rotor wheels?

It sounds like it hits everyone's oil pan but yours. I could chronicle every problem I've had it with it but I don't feel like typing it again.

Now that it's installed and aligned and all the bugs are worked out, it's just not much of an improvement for the money and the time. And it's not without its downsides: I'm sure you've noticed the less-than-positive changes to the turning radius and steering ratio in the center.

How did a plug rip out your apex seal? I just can't picture that unless YOU installed the wrong size. I have been running autolite 2526 for over a year I have no probs. WTF?

I'm gonna go with the Center Force clutch as my favorit mod so far ( light flywheel also) nuthin' like the feel of a good clutch. I will never own another car without this combo.

As for the worst, that P.O.S adjustable thermostat from Vicky British that I bought for my e-fan just doesn't work.

Best

2nd gen seats,
Rb Muffler

Worst
Advance autoparts rear disk caliper rebuild kit, that had the wrong size O ring for the ebrake.
VB 160 t-stat without the block off plate, Dan Atkinks has the correct 160 T-stat.

I am poor, so my **** is pretty weak:
Best: NGK wires and Denso plugs. Oh, and my dryer hose cold-air intake. Keeps the engine a little bit cooler anyways.

Worst: crazy gluing the cover of the dome light on, it fell off again a couple of days later.

Worst? Dumping 2 much $$ into a 'never-ran-again' 1981 rustbucket

Best? Purchasing a still running '84 GS for $400

But then again...I should still be able to use the majority of the '81 bought stuff, so guess I haven't had a worst )

Am I close?

The xhaust was 810 shipped, but that was when I was running the 13B setup... I had to buy the 12A header for when I put the exhaust on the 85.... so total, 1090.

The motor was 200. So were the 3 others that either had bad water seals, shitty compression, or a cracked e-shaft. ($800 total)
