gold box under driver storage bin

I believe our friend here would be referring to this thing.... I also do not know what it is for. So if anyone has any bright ideas please clue the two of us in. I have been trying to figure this out as well. It would give me great joy to remove it permanently as the harness to it is practically trashed.

If the box mounts to the floor it's the cruise control.
If you're going to throw it away, throw it in a box and mail it to me. I need one.
If it mounts to the front face of the bin area, it's the rear amplifier.
Again, if you're going to throw it away, throw it in a box and mail it to me. I need one of those too.
