Lets be honest the RX-7 is 20 years out of date performance wise unless you have had asignificanf transplant such as a boosted 13BT. Just read road tests from 1985, the gen 1 was being outdated.

Playing around with minor mods is not going to have any real impact. To be a sportscar these days you will have to have at least 180rwhp.
Very true, we all talk big saying our cars are fast, but they really aren't. This doens't mean they are cool and a blast to drive, but if you look at the numbers its quite bad. My dad's accord, as well as my friends ZX2 wouldn't even have to try in order to beat me.

As far as modern cars go, I have a feeling there are quite a few out there that I cant even hang with. Its crazy how much power some of those "luxury" cars can put down. BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. I can hang with just about any Honda that wants some, but I do admit, I had to try damn hard.

On another note, I did a little jetting, and ended up right where I started, but now with real fuel pressure, it feels like a whole new car. Im back running an F-9 65 idle jet, 145 main jet, F-7 E-Tube, 36mm Venturis, and 160 air corrector, but DAMN does this thing feel fast now. I know feeling fast and actually being fast are two totally different things, but going from what I was driving to this, all I can say is DAMN. I was on the highway and caught up to another first gen (silver 84 or 85 GSL with big chrome rims) but I didnt get a chance to try and race him. Even though he did take off (fast I might add, Id almost say porting or a 13B was involved), I was in 5th and didnt know he was even gonna go for it so I was totally unaware. I took off from a stop light a short time later and out ran a newer Trans Am that I had been messing with earlier, but I dont know how hard he was trying. I gave it everything I had, and when I let off at 60 in 3rd (50 MPH speedlimit) he was a good 2 car lengths back and gaining on me pretty quick. Oh well, I know I need some more fine tuning with the jets, but it just feels about twice as fast as it was now, so Im happy .
