Glug glug, car spits fuel up

been playing with the 85 a bit...i have the Holley kit from RB on the car with a 6psi mallory pump. With the stock pump the car was leaning out hard and ran awful. We ripped that out and in its place put the Mallory and the car just spills fuel. I mean it literally spits up out the top of the carb. I'm guessing I need to regulate the pressure down a few notches to start, but was wondering if anyone else has additional pointers.

Mallory makes many different pumps, which one did you use? Details in are the key.

You'll most likely need a regulator.

if the carb is new and you're sure the floats aren't sticking you'll have to get a fpr to cut down the fuel flow, as you are flooding the floats.

i am using the Mallory fuel pump recommended by Racing Beat, the 4070 http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=18150. i assume then there really is no need to adjust the floats, just reduce pressure?

Fpr is a must, along with a fuel pressure gauge. That should solve you flooding.
