glowing header

we put this motor out of an 83 in a 81 and cant get it to run right rats nest is removed it has a header and a cherry bomb {not my doing} and a carb off a pefectly running 85 but the back rotor is lean the back tube on the header glows and it lean pops at high rpms 5000 to 7000 and at night sparks shoot out of the exaust please help rotary gods

also make sure all spark wires are on correctly. Most likely timing.

Normally when a header glows red then the engine is actually running rich, not lean. At least i think so anyway. It could very well be the other way around.

If you didnt mess with the carb and it ran fine in the car u pulled it from then I wouldnt mess with trying to "adjust" it. Check the timing 1st make sure spark plug wire are in order then check the actual timing mark. Did u remove the distributor??? or was this the original that was already on the running engine?

hay where in oregon do you live?

you need a timming light to set it correctly

well if your facing the spark plugs
in the center of the carb just above the spacer there sould be a philips screw with a spring just wind it in tight then back out 3 1/2 turns and play with till ya cars just runnin but you really need to do the timming first

if it's only happening on the rear rotor, then I would suspect that you might have a bad leading sparkplug or wire. If it was on both, then I would look at timing (too far retarded).
