RRTEC you know I’m selling the answer to your problem... we should talk a little more seriously.

Building them is where the fun is. Mine barely runs (by barely, I mean that it only runs if I hold the choke at full), and I still love it to death. Working on these cars is like a big boost in confidence too, because it's a motor that not too many professionals know how to fix, and I got mine running with no knowledge at all (I have some cool people from this forum to thank for that!). It sits in my driveway doing nothing, and I enjoy owning the car and especially the reaction I get when people ask me what that car is and then hear the answer.

By the way, I wish I had that driveway. I'd never be bored in that place. Just so long as there aren't any hornet's. They've made a nice nest in my rear bumper, so I can't put in my new fuel pump and filter (very very bad experience with them from childhood).

Trevor,

I can understand the frustration of having so many parts and partscars and not having your dream rex. I don't think you should give up though. What you need to do is clean up and downsize.

Sit down and take an inventory of everything you've got (which I'm assuming you've already done since you're going to sell it). Look at that list. Anything on that list which should be part of your dream car, keep it. Find a place for it and keep it. ANYTHING else (the two second gens and the SA for example) sell or have hauled away.

If you keep the parts you'll need, and sell everything else it will give you enough money to start looking for that GSL-SE donor body. With the yard and shed cleaned up it'll lift your spirits. With the engine and other various parts neatly stacked into place it will give you the will to keep striving for that dream. If you can't find the donor car yet, start working with what you have.

Anticipate what your donor car will need to become your dream car. 13b-SP? Take one of your 13b cores and keep it. Rebuild it in your spare time. Having a complete engine will make you want to have a car to put it in.

Yes you have to get rid of alot of extra parts and parts cars, but you know that if you give up completely you're just going to end up sad because you never achieved the car. Years from now you may end up saying "man, I never should have sold *all* of that stuff and gotten out of the game", just like you're saying about your first Rex.

You've been around here long enough to see people come back. We need to help encourage each other. It's not always easy, but we can stick with it. Just look at TJ! He's still around despite what happened to his dream Rex!

My car is far from perfect, and Eric's got two half-good GSLs waiting to be merged. But you just have to sit back, re-evaluate things, make some changes, clean up, and keep going.

We're always here for you Trevor,

Jon

man, it kills me to see you say that. i havent ever delt with you personally, but ive seen your post all over the forum and you seem like a struggleing rx7 owner, like most of us. if it doesnt have to be a GSLSE hit me up... i came accross an AMAZING deal and i was going to buy it. i dont need to, but i cant pass the deal up. if youre interested hit me up, the only catch is it isnt a GSLSE, but i think after i told you about it youd be pleased. i also have some other cars you might be interested in. i dont want to see you give up.

I have a decent job now, so when the new rx7 is released I plan on buying one through some ccw's on it and thats it.

I'm going to try and get $6500 for the car when its fully tuned. I'll drive her for a few months off the Ebay.

Don't do it! Keep the car, wait on buying a home! The USA is in a HUGE housing bubble right now and within the next couple of years, the market's gonna plummet! I kick myself in the *** for not buying in 2000 when I had the chance and I was about to buy a condo this year (can't afford a house at these prices) but after talking with lots of people in the biz (realitors, lenders ect), and reading a ton of articles on all of the things wrong with todays housing prices, I'm convinced the housing market is in for a rude awakening. Angry Trevor you dumbass!

First of all I am not apologiseing for that remark.

I have never met any of you face to face, living in japan has its disadvantages.

But trust me when I say you will regret it later, take stock, keep what you need, get rid of what you don't, save the best body and all the parts that will work for the car.

selling the car will not get you enough money to buy a house.

If you think you will be able to afford it better 5 years from now, you are fooing yourself.

consider this I sold my last SA/FB almost 10 years ago, with 2 spare 13b's, and a moving truck full of parts for 3K. I regretted it soon after, in that time frame I built and raced and played with several other high performance cars, a 90 supra with 1JZ (JDM version), a eunos cosmo, with 3 rotor tuned to about 600 one time (currently new motor is 450 with smaller turbo), A fox body mustang, and an Evo V.

the whole time I kept thinking about the seven i sold, so this January I bought another one with some body rust (no clean ones left over here anymore) and it cost me 9K, I considered waiting longer, but now the price has jumped on the lots to about 11 K for one just like the one I bought, that was in a 8 month period. these cars are just hitting classic status, the price (and availability of parts) is just going to get worse.

so stop your whining, keep the parts you need (all of them including the spare bodies ) and start writing about how glad you are you didn't sell it

Kenn

I think I have solved his problems. I think the 80sa will be a full resto and I have found him a gsl-se to put his 6port motor in so he can have a daily driver/ track car while the sa is being restored.
The other 3 7's will be sold/parted/and or crushed.

Well lets work on him.
I won't be able to help like I did for trevor,

I had to drive to AL and back to Tn to save trevor.
I left at 6:30am and got home at 5:45. Used almost two tanks of fuel ($2.48 a gallon) had one blow out on the trailer, had a tranny fall over in my bed and poured tranny gear lube everywhere. Then the wind misted it on my rear window, trailer, and the gsl-se I was towing. So my new 05 duramax crewcab truck is very dirty, looks/smells like ****, and the trip cost me almost $100.00 with fuel and food, but I saved him.

Hey John,

I'm in the same boat you are. I should've bought in 4 years ago and just struggle through it. But now, there is no way for me to afford anything. I'm just going to save up and wait till the bubble bursts.

RRTEC,
Just take a month and get your car running right. Don't worry about the body and paint. You can always get that later. I just drove my SE this morning after sitting for 3 weeks and it still brings a smile to my face.

You do need to get rid of all the other cars though. That's too many.

yeah, I have a lot of friends in the same situation. I know it will be down in a few years though. We just have to be patient. Most buyers in CA are priced out of the market already and inventories are already starting to grow, especially in San Diego. Prices in Carlsbad have been dropping allready as well. It will all work out in the end.

Yeah, just keep the se, if you get too many things on you plate, you will feel overwhelmed and not any anything done. I learned that the hard way
