fuel gauge

My fuel gauge always reads about half full ever since I got the car

I have taken the sender out and cleaned the connections but its readings are still not accurate

so i was wondering if there was any other things ii should look at before replacing the sender

The meter. From my '80 manual, I remember there was a procedure for testing it if the sender checked out fine on the ohms test. Do you have a multimeter? That and reading the manual listed in the FAQ will allow you to isolate which part of the circuit has failed.
