Getting a Guestimate from those who might know

Ok with my A/C belt not running from my engine to my a/c. Im wondering how much HP was going back to my engine, just a guesstimate. I have a 1983 Limited Edition 7

Next to none. The only time it is robbing Hp is when the A/c is on and the clutch is engaged. the rest of the time it is free wheeling and i doubt if a dyno could measure what little if any was being taken away from the motor

ahh....well then. Im still looking in my car see what else is in there(when I get home Ill post pics of the engine) cause I swear I have a LOT more pep then my 120 HP lancer with my 7 and I know stock its like 100HP

exhaust/CATS rob some, but i dunno if u have to have CATS where u live but where i am there is no need for em.

There's alot to be had under there. Rat's nest,smog pump, and the cluth to electric fan I thinik was a MAJOR jump in the saet of my pants!

There are many things that are more practical to remove than your air conditioning.

Most of the easy to resolve items have been mentioned already, eg.: rats nest, factory headers, catalytic converters/heat exchangers, fan clutch to electric fan. Even exchanging your old coils for new ones, changing your spark plugs to specific purpose items, changing engine oil/transmission fluid/differential fluid can yeild results that you may not feel in the seat of your pants but you will notice over time. By that I mean possible improvements in idle, response, efficiency, and reliability.

TO be honest thats all I care about more first then making it faster, I dunno after speeding with a 1993 Supra and listenin to its turbo spool in three gears as Im still neck and neck with it, it made me wonder. Right now though I care more for reliability, I would LOVE to drive it from Va Beach(or MD when I move) to FL ANYDAY

Just take the next four or five weekends and tackle small projects. Changing your oil one week, next week your coolant (I have my own "proper" way, everyone does), third week your transmission, differential fluid, and coils, fourth week you clean your distributor inside and out, dielectric grease your ignition leads, and install new spark plugs.

Spread things out if you're short on time or money, but never wake up and try to do everything in one day. Take a few hours to work and the rest of your weekend to play.

That's because you Lancer weighs a lot more than your 2400lb. RX-7. It may have more power, but I'd be willing to bet it weighs close to 600lbs. more than your FB....

The biggest single improvement on a rotary motor is replacing the restrictive exhaust with a header system. Does not affect reliability at all but does increase Hp to the tune of around 25HP on a 12a with the Rb header system. The rats nest is just a clean up thing and usually yields running issues at first. The smog pump is removed when you install a header and the aCV is blocked off.

Yea My 7 is registered in FL, which has NO type of inspection, and no emissions testing. And yea I forgot about the whole weight of my lancer and 7 thing...dumb dumb me. Big Smoke I like the idea you said, cause why do it all in one day when you can spead it out, not only would that be GREAT on my wallet, also more to do.

I agree with what you are saying about spacing out doing stuff, but some of those things you said is rediculis to do over a period of 4 weeks. Alot of that stuff takes 10 mins to do, so why spread it out that much.
