well, after trying to comprehend your writing for 10 minutes i eventually gave up.

did u pick up a copy of Haynes manual for the rx7? these are worth the investment...
the thermostat is between the alt and the air pump (follow the big radiator hose). if you got the time, flush the radiator. just hope lots of **** doesn't come out...

Sorry about the mindless rant. So what i relly want to know is could the belts being loose make my temp rise? Where should the neddle be while at operating temp (experencing a fluxuation between 6 oclock and about 430 on guage). Center fins on radiator missingand a redish, whiteish, dust on 6 inch around fins but no leak that i see WTF? So if i replace raidator any sugestions? Also any downsides to taking out a/c? All reddy bought atl belt and air pump belt plan on buying p/s beltand installing all and doing raid flush wwanted to loose a/c if easer at this time any ways sorry about going on again hopeto get some help.

Thank you for your time!

I think crushed fins and corrosion could have something to do with your heating problem. A slipping belt can cause said problems, but change that nasty rad first! Overheating a rotary kills a rotary.

Your needle should NEVER rise above 1/3 on the guage. If it is, then you need to assess and fix the problem because as Manntis said, heat is your enemy. I'd replace the rad and go from there.

Don't use a generic thermostat. Mazda uses a dual stage unit in the RX-7, and the generic ones won't work properly.
