Gears
4.88 gears only cost $250 through Mazda Comp. What else do i need to purchase upon installation?? Do i need any other parts?? Also, will the speedometer work?? Or will i need a new gear for it, if so, where can i get the new gear for speedometer?? Any help or links to a good site with rearend gearing products would be appreciated, thanks!! '85 GSL
He's talking about gears to change the speedo that are on the side of the tranny...go to Paul Yaw's site....there was a link that had some guy's research into the subject...if you've got a '79 or '80, you're screwed...the other years can be redone with different gears just like a chevy TH350 or TH400 to correct the speed error...gots pictures an' everything!
I think he meant $250 for the diff gears.
You can also use a ratio box to correct the speedo which is what I've done. It's a little gearbox that goes between the speedo drive and the cable. You just need to work out how far your odometer is off over a certain distance then get the box made to suit.
