gauges not working

gauges not working
hey guys i have the car running good but the only gauge that works is the fuel gauge. Any ideas why the others are not all fuses are good and the cables on the back are plugged in nice a tight with dielectric grease on them. any suggestions on what to cheek next. thank you

ok the volt meter in the speedometer works some times and the speedometer worked the day i bought the car. what should i check and were is it. thank you

Well, your profile says you have a 1997 Rx7, I'm not sure if I can provide any tech help on that new of a model.
Are you sure the connections are clean at the senders and the wires are good? An intermittant voltmeter may indicate a charging or connection problem with the alternator, which could affect the gauges. Other than that, I listed most everythng to check other than how to determine if the gauges themselves are good, which requires cluster removal.
Fwiw, the speedo is mechanical, not affected by electrics and the tach gets it's signal from the trailing coil, assuming you have an electronic dizzy.

The voltmeter on the 79s only work wtih the key on, engine off, after that it reads rpms for the tach. Ignore my comment about charging/electrical problems in this case. Since the 79 has no oil pressure gauge, all that's left is the temp gauge. Sender is under the oil filter with a single wire attached to it.

ok there is a yellow wire that is not connected to any thing right under the coils in the fender is that the wire and where in the back coil does it go. Both coils have the came same amount and color of wires coming out of them. I found where the wire should connect under the beehive cooler i have the connector off and where should the wire go to from it. thank you

ok there is no yellow wire with a white strip i can wire it to the temp sender but where do i wire it yo from there i have the connector off and have 15 ft od 14 gauge wire.
