When the meter fuse blows, evething except the tach and speedo quit. Since you have 1 working gauge, it's either the senders, wiring, connector at the back of the instument cluster, or the gauges themselves.

Well, your profile says you have a 1997 Rx7, I'm not sure if I can provide any tech help on that new of a model.

Are you sure the connections are clean at the senders and the wires are good? An intermittant voltmeter may indicate a charging or connection problem with the alternator, which could affect the gauges. Other than that, I listed most everythng to check other than how to determine if the gauges themselves are good, which requires cluster removal.

Fwiw, the speedo is mechanical, not affected by electrics and the tach gets it's signal from the trailing coil, assuming you have an electronic dizzy.

The voltmeter on the 79s only work wtih the key on, engine off, after that it reads rpms for the tach. Ignore my comment about charging/electrical problems in this case. Since the 79 has no oil pressure gauge, all that's left is the temp gauge. Sender is under the oil filter with a single wire attached to it.

ok there is a yellow wire that is not connected to any thing right under the coils in the fender is that the wire and where in the back coil does it go. Both coils have the came same amount and color of wires coming out of them. I found where the wire should connect under the beehive cooler i have the connector off and where should the wire go to from it. thank you
