gasket help!

This is my first time working with gaskets and sealers. My question is when reinstalling the lower intake manifold, uim, and any other gasket. Do u have to coat the gasket with hylomar or a rtv silicone? How about if the parts arent perfectly straight what do u guys do?

all intake gaskets are installed dry, make sure all surfaces are clean with old gasket material remaining. all surface areas need to be flat, run a flat file over them sideways and look for low spots, do not file too much if they look like there is low spots have them surfaces properly by a machine shop

i put a really thin coat of silicon on the intake gaskets, more to keep them from sticking, so i don't have to scrape it again.

for intake gaskets, i like the black or grey permatex. usually i use the Mazda sealer, but it sticks better, and it'll rip gaskets

I use this stuff or its copper counterpart on all my gaskets:

It seals up slight imperfections, but most important, you can just peel off the gaskets in the future. Most of the time you can even reuse them.

Sorry, I don't speak -SE. All others have o-rings in the manifold/engine interface.
