1983 brochure claims 16 gallons but I know for a FACT, Furious only has a 14.5 gallon capacity...

in my Hayne's manual it says 55 liters (45 U.S. gal, 12.1 lmp gal) for the earlier models and 16.4 US gal (13.9 lmp. gal, 63 liters) for the later models of 1st gens...

And I've seen 14.4 for the FBs somewhere else...but when you run out of gas, push it to a station and then top it out at 14.5 gallons, you tend to think maybe I won't drive to 295 miles on the trip odo and stick with 250 at "E" before I fill up again...

250 miles out of a tank of gas! Wow I wish I could get that. Probably could if it wasn't for that fuel pump I got.

Except for the air cleaner mod and the K&N filter, she's completely stock, so the price of that fuel range is only having 105 HP at the flywheel....but at least she's got grip beyond belief and I can leave braking to the last possible second, if need be...

the most i've ever put in my 83 is 16 gallons even, and that was at like 310 miles or something, I was pushing it to the limit that time

The car is a '79 FB. It gets about 200 miles on a tank. I can't believe it has more than a 12 gallon tank.

the sa's have 14 gallon tanks according to the manuals. Also, the gas gauge is far from accurate, maybe you still have gallons left when you go to fill up and thats why you only go 200 miles a tank. just an idea....

yes believe it or not i have gotten 323 miles on a tank of gas from N Wa to W Or about a 5 hour trip. i drove it empty to gas station topped it off at 16 something and drove without stopping i even think it wasnt even on E almost though i was very impressed i got better milage than my wifes 4 banger grand am. mods are tarus fan Rb header no cats and highly modded air canister with K and N a bunch more suspension mods that wouldnt effect milage as well.

i just ran out yesterday (thought the gage was faulty but I should have believed it). Added one gallon to drive two miles to the gas station. Added 15.6 at the gas station. Total 16.6 gallons capacity 1982 RX7, 12A and manual 5 speed, mostly stock, typically average 22 mpg.

so anyone know, like rxbrug just did, on a 1980 SA?

and how reliable are these fuel gauges? I've never tested it and don't want too. lol

I know when I top mine off and take it for a spin for like an hour or more it usually uses about 1/2 tank...but it's a v8 and I am usually getting on it.

the Manual says 55 Liters, 14.5 US gallons, but only 12 Imperial gallons

55 litres (4.5 US gallons / 12 Imperial gallons) is correct.

I've owned my 1980 SA since new and the gas gauge was always accurate.

Highway Driving consistently delivered 600km per tank = 31mpg (Imperial) = 25.7mpg (US)
