My 79 has been leaking gas into the oil. I have recently rebuilt and cleaned my carb. When I start the car and let it run gas smelling oil runs out of the the tail pipe. I have recently changed the oil but don't want to start the car until I get gas leak fixed. Gasoline is 4 or 5 years old and I intend to drain the tank this weekend. Also when starting the car gas comes out of the hose that runs into the charcoal canester(from the engine) in the air cleaner. I think that I switched something in the carb. If anybody can help let me know please.

Are you contaminating the oil with fuel (somewhat normal, change your oil more often) or are you dripping oil out of the exhaust?

 

Oil is contaminated with gasoline and gas oil mixture comes out of the tail pipe. The car has been sitting for 4 or 5 years before I purchased it 4 months ago. I changed the oil thursday, but I don't want to start it for fear the new oil will become contaminated with gasoline as well.
