Angry Gas gauge not working properly!!!

Ok im having a problem with 83's gas gauge the dam gauge is reading totally empty under the red line. When i put gas it reads and sometimes jumps up and down. Can't be the float because the tanks new. I'm thinking the wires behind the gauges what color are they for the gas gauge.

Did you change the take your self and put a new float in it? It could be that the plug came loose from the float.

if u changed your tank, then u probably had a rusted one, the float has a wire winding on the sender to tell the amount of gas in tank,,,its probably got rust on it,,,just clean the wire windings, use a toothbrush, the wires are very small so be gentle.....good luck
