Function of choke and check relay

Hi all,

Was trying to figure out the function of the C&C relay. It looks like when the ignition switch is in the start or run position that through a set of contacts the relay supplies power to the oscillator. Was wondering why there just isn't a direct connection similar, for example, to the buzzer in the combination meter.

It also appears to supply a ground to bias the coolant level unit. It seems that when the coolant level sensor closes it could supply that ground which is when it would be needed.

What am I not seeing here?

Phil

The choke and check relay has been explained by me about 5 times LOL Try searching... But anyways, what it does it make the light on the dash come on (all the red idiot lights that is) when the key is turned. As soon as the white/blk wire shows the alternator is running (field and stator) and charging, it sends a negative voltage to the relay thus turning it off and then therby turning the lights on the dash off.

Mike,

Prior to the post I did a search for "check and choke relay" and found out about the idiot light info but was trying to find out more about the oscillator power and coolant level unit relations.

Doesn't it check for coolant level shortly AFTER the engine starts? (like ~3~ seconds)??
