Fuel tank leak

Hey everyone!

Just dropped the gas tank as there was a gas leak that was dripping down onto the garage floor after going to the gas station. Noticed a strong gas smell prior when taking a corner sometimes, I am guessing the leak is coming from the top fuel vapor valve/grommet. I took a couple pics as I am not sure if it might be leaking from the fuel gauge as well or if its just from the leak above, which is my guess. We just had the gas tank refinished from a local shop maybe a year or two ago, I am skeptic if they actually did the inside of the tank as when I popped the fuel line off behind the fuel filter the gas was pretty orange and rust seemed like it was on the ground after the gas evaporated off. I was able to look up the valve/grommet part #'s I believe are BW0G-42-A90 and BW0A-42-A95. It doesnt appear that you can really find the fuel gauges for sale anymore unless they are off a different car.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Which series RX7 doe you have? SA 79-80 senders NLA, but have seen earlier FB once FS. But you just need the gasket, correct?
Beyond the leak fix its obvious you should eyeball the inside of the tank and try to determine its condition. I think you can actually rent those little probe-cameras at AutoZone etc and really poke around in there to see the condition...

Forgot to mention, yes it's a 79. I was able to order the vapor valve and the grommet online, will def inspect inside of tank while I'm at it.

I would recommend removing the fuel level sender and inspecting the inside of the tank.

Do you see anywhere on the tank where the leaking gas had evaporated and left a residue?
