Gas Fuel Leaking around Tank

I lifted the rear of the car to install a different set of rims, but when I did, I noticed that I started to have a steady trip of gas coming from the driver side of the tank.

I had about 3/4 full tank, but the dripping stopped at a little above half. I wasn't able to easily determine where the leak was coming from.

Has someone had a similar problem before? Please help me identify where to start checking. Thank you!

You're going to have to trace that down, considering you have aftermarket fuel plumbing I'd start with that as a culprit. The tanks themselves typically don't leak unless they're SUPER rusty or have been damaged, same goes for the fuel fill tube.

Regardless, I would find and fix that PRONTO, that's a recipe for a rolling fireball.

You may need to drop the tank to investigate, it's not too bad to do, but it will suck with a 3/4 full tank, gas is HEAVY. Feel under all the lines and wiring to see if it's running down the bottom of a line.

Thanks guys, but does anyone have an idea why it would only leak when the car was jacked-up (lifted) in the rear? When I have the car on with pressure through the lines, there is no leaking. Only when i had the fuel above half in the tank and the rear up in the air.... Seems strange.

If you find a picture of an FD fuel tank, you'll be able to get an idea on where the leak might be coming from. My dad's van had a similar issue after a fuel pump change, the shop didn't tighten the filler neck and gas was leaking out of there everytime he fill it up, as soon as the fuel level is below the filler it will stop. Like Dale said, you might have to drop the tank to find where it is coming from.
