fuel system updated for the turbo

Ok on the original set up my fuel pressure couldnt go below 6-7 psi after changing to the accel fuel pump. With the GSL-SE pump fuel pressure could be adjusted below this point. So the only thing that could possibly make it stay high in my opinion was the really tiny fuel return line. What i did was remove the tiny return line and replaced it with 3/8 aluminum tubing and I will be useing the original 5/16 feed line as the return line. should solve the problem. Yesterday managed to get the stock exhaust off, what a PITA. Also took out the tiny return line in the tank and replaced it with a bulkhead fitting there is actually alot of space on the tank inlets. You could possibly not have to use a fuel cell

WOW Very NICE!!! What is the red thing hooked up to the front of your FPR? Is that a electric FP gague? If so what brand I want to move mine in cabin now. I was origionally having the same issue with FP not dropping below 8psi when I first finished the rebuild, but running some 3/8 copper tube allowed the FP to get right where I need it. I only ran it back to the tank and left the stock 1/4" tank fitting. I can get it as low as 3psi with a MSD pump and Mallory FPR.

I like the return line in the pickup, very good idea! Likes a little over the top in the engine bay, personally i like the socket less hose, less chances of chaffing, and looks alot cleaner.

That's an autometer mechanical fuel pressure isolator. There is fuel from the fpr to the isolator then antifreeze and distilled water to the guage inside the car.

You'll have to modify it a little. elongate the holes about 3/16 of an inch to the center of the strut tower.

Good work sean... so you are useing a GSL-SE fuel pump for your 12a turbo? That's in-tank, right? I bought a Mustang Cobra in-tank fuel pump and I'm being told that I MUST run an in-line pump.

How's that working out for you?

An inline pump is what you need. Just take out the 12a pump and install a new one. the modification to get a intank pump in my mind would be a sever pain in the ***. I have an extra GSL-SE pump if you need it has an adapter to use it on the stock 12a hoses.

Im using this one, I was able to make it fit in the original mounts without too much trouble. But I did use the braket from the GSL-SE pump to mount the new pump.

ACCEL 74701

Will flow up to 200#/hr @ 45 psi for naturally aspirated engines with 500 HP and forced induction engines with 330 HP. Pump includes fittings and copper gaskets. Includes mounting bracket.
DIMENSIONS: Body Length: 7-1/2". Body Diameter: 2-1/2". Overall Length: 9-1/4".

Thanks robert & sean... maybe I'm confused. Your running an external ACCEL 74701 in-tank? Your statment of "I was able to make it fit in the original mounts" is what's confusing me.

Sorry to be a bother. :/

1st gen rx7 have external fuel pumps. There is no pump in the tank. This is what is in your tank.

The fuel pump for the 1st gen rx7 is located in front of the driverside rear tire.

Ah... ahahaha. That explains all. I've not tinkered with my fuel system yet. Thanks for not spanking me around like the n00b I am.

I had some similar issues as you. When I went up to a high volume aeromotive fuel pump, I could hardly keep the fuel pressure below 5psi. When I changed over to a Walbro 255 FI pump, things were much better, and I switched over to a 3/8 hose for my return and I can set the fuel pressure down to about 0psi.
