fuel pump wires ?

fuel pump wires ?

i just bought a 85 gsl , it has a holley fuel pump but the factory wires to it are fried . do they draw to much power for the stock pump wires ? or were the wires just bad .

stock wires are fine. which wire is fried. coil to relay OR relay to fuel pump

Did the power wire get grounded by not being run thru a rubber insulater as the wires passed thru the floor of the car? Or is the ground wire not making good contact with the chassis?
Those are the 2 most common causes for the wires to melt. A failing pump could also be part of the problem.

i will have to do some more checking . the fuze is good , the wires dont run thrugh the floor as the fuel pump is half in the car and just the bottom(fuel lines) are outside the car, i am going to check for ground and each wire front to back later today , although it might just be eisier to run a new set of wires .

then check the wire between the relay and fuel pump
