I just bought a 1980 rx7. its all original with 84,000 miles. I want to make it fast. I need help doing that and helping the looks of it also. Aslo the brakes are squashy, what can it be is it vaccum? something with the brake booster? the brake cylinder has been replaced just not sure whats going on. I would appreciate any help i can get.
Thanks,

welcome to the forum...before anyone says anything, start by reading the FAQ thread, and doing a bit of research on what you're looking for, there are already threads on cheap/free/quick hp gains/mods and all kinds of stuff like that and also on brake malfunctions congratulations on your 7 woot!!!

Welcome
I am going to assume that you are new to 7s
As mentioned before read, read, and read some more.
1. Search Bin Rust because it is a common killer of rx7s
2. If you have a clean 80 rx7 with low miles, appreciate it and dont rush into making more power. Furthermore, what are your performance expectations and more importantly budget? Another killer of these cars are new owners who start chopping them up before understanding them.
3. Also, look up the difference between the SA 79 & 80, and FB 81 - 85 (ONLY in the US) <-- to not anger our Aussie friends
4. Make yourself at least vaguely familiar with the rotary engine, and know which version your car has. (most likely a 12A)
These are just a few hints to get you started in the right direction.
Most of the people in this section are a wealth of knowledge and assistance as long as someone doesnt want their hand held and is willing to LISTEN to the advice given.
Pics and details of the car would help also

HP thing has been all covered in this thread-
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/engine-easiest-way-make-hp-stock-12a-686989/
As far as the brakes go if you just replaced the master cylinder and the brakes feel spongy then you may have to go back and re-bleed the brakes because of air still in the system.
This statement 17 minutes after you posted your thread is something that you don't do. (Some help would be nice?)
That is explained in this section-

This is another beneficial thread that all members should read.

if you want some quick easy power out of your car. go full RB exhaust and their carb hat. also the front strut bar they make will eliminate the feelin of your car plowin in through the turns. then focus on brakes, tires, suspension and then carb. by then you should be pretty broke

8. You will have to have lengthy "conversations" with your SO regarding every detail of your car project even though you know she has no clue what you're talking about and doesn't understand 99.9% of the words coming out of your mouth.
9. The local Mazda SA/FB repair guy will become your new best friend.
10. You will spend more time on this forum than any other.
