Fuel Pump running
I'm currently restoring a 1985 GSL following a front end accident. Prior to the accident, the car was running a 12A with RB exhaust, striped Niki carb, no rats nest, and MSD modified ignition. The accident was mainly on the drivers strut tower and front end, which required pulling the engine, gutting the engine compartment of most items, and moving the wiring harness out of the way for repairs. Now that the drivers side upper strut tower has been replaced, the wiring, engine, and associated engine items have been reinstalled. Here's the problem. The fuel pump runs when the ignition is turned on without cranking the engine. Good pressure (4 PSI ) and flow to the carb. The MSD ignition is working, good leading spark when cranked, and good trailing spark when cranked. I've checked the fuel pump cut relay for proper operation, and it appears to be receiving power from the trailing ignition system, without the engine running, telling the pump to run. Could it be the ECU going bad or should I check somewhere else?
