The Mallory Comp 70s seem to die a lot. I know of a couple people here that have been through 2 or 3 of them. I've used Carter pumps a couple of times and they have never caused me any problems. Very durable pump, and gets the job done.

I voted Carter. I have personally used the Holley blue and red and have used the Mallory 140 on V-8 cars. I DO NOT like the Holley's because of the noise they make. I used the Mallory on my last hotrod and it was great. It never failed, always flowed sufficient fuel and was quiet.

I voted Carter because it is quiet, cheap, reliable, and you can get it at any parts store.

I have a Carter ready to go under my carbed SE. The crappy purolater pump that was on it when I got the car doesn't keep steady pressure. It starts out holding 6 PSI, but after it has run for a bit, the pressure can drop to as little as 1 PSI. Amazingly, even at 1 PSI, it still seems to supply enough fuel to feed the edelbrock 600.

I used a Mallory pump, and it worked fine for me. One benefit is that they come in a lot of pressure ratings, so you can usually forego a regulator. I've also heard many good reviews on the Carters.

I have been using a Carter 4070, but am going to a 4594. I seem to be running out of fuel on long WOT runs (IDA 48). A lot of rotary guys are running these pumps. If you search there are a few old treads about this topic.
