Question Fuel Pressure Regulator Problems!!!

I accidentally hooked up my regulator backwards(outlet on inlet hose and inlet on outlet hose). Now it seems that it wont regulate. It just stays at like 9psi no matter how much i turn the regulator screw. I have a manual pump switch so i can have the fuel pump on without the car on. Its a holley 1-4 psi regulator so i dont think it should be up at 9psi

Could running backwards like that mess it up?

Shouldn't mess up anything, just reverse the lines so that it goes through the regulator the right way.

Put it backwards again. That should do it.

j/k. Don't know what to tell ya, except I'm about to get that exact same FPR and so will have to remember to double check and make sure I don't make the same mistake. Good luck getting it fixed.

Maybe reversing the flow could have damaged the internal diaphragm. I have recently taken apart a Malpassi regulator and the diaphragm in there was really thin..I would guess the same with a Holley. If the membrane is ruptured or otherwise non-functional it would no longer regulate.

If it were me, I would order the Holley rebuild kit for the regulator BEFORE you tear it apart. Call 1-866-GOHOLLEY for tech assistance.

did it ever work? if not then try puting the return line coming out of the fpr into a 5 gallon gas container and see if the pressure drops. if so you got a clog in the return line or too small of line.

Carl.
