Fuel Pressure Regulator and Gauge
Fuel Pressure Regulator and Gauge
Anyone run a fuel pressure regulator and gauge on a stock Nikki and stock fuel pump.... with the aim of checking and slightly reducing the fuel pressure to try to fix a chronic flooding issue? If so, what FPR and gauge did you use and how was it mounted?
Fighting a sticky float needle in a Nikki. Have been unable to fix despite trying all the possible combinations of new and original seats/needles and resetting float levels. I get flooding two to three times during a one hour drive. Have rigged a switch to the fuel pump on the center console so I can cycle the pump if I feel the engine starting to drown, and that at least keeps me driving. (My theory with the switch is that cutting the fuel pressure allows the needle to overcome fuel pressure and re-seat. But I want to keep trying to fix the problem so I don't have to be so darned attentive to what the engine is doing when I am driving, its kinda stressful!) Did read a post here (which I cant find anymore) where an owner reduced fuel pressure to fix a flooding issue, lowering pressure then through experimentation bringing the pressure back up to just below where the flooding issue would return. Not too concerned about loss of power at higher RPMs as rarely push the car hard.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree? I dont think there are any more trees left to bark up regarding fixing a sticky needle, and am seriously considering converting the car to electric.
