Fuel Injection Vs Porting

I am currently beginning a project to put a 1st or early 2nd gen 13b into a Triumph Spitfire. I have been thinking I would want a fuel injected motor to get the most power and reliability, but this setup also adds quite a bit of complexity to the project. Can I use a carburated motor and make it decently powerful through carb changes/porting without breaking the bank? I would ideally want 150hp at the crank, and since the FI motor makes 140 from the factory, this would come close to my needs. Any thoughts?
By the way, would I have to use an RX7 guage cluster to run the fuel injected motor from the 1st Gen 7?

you can use a carb on any wngine you put in the vehicle. you could use the gauges, but you do not have to. a carb'd engine will be the way to go. if you add a decent carb, a good exhaust and go direct fire, you will be in the ballpark to having a very quick car.

Definately go aftermarket carb (weber) with aftermarket gauges. Stewart Warner makes some nice "classic" looking gauges which are backlit properly and look beautiful.

A carb would work fine but you would not have to ues the gauge cluster out of your RX.

Direct Freak is right; Use callsic looking gauges.
