Fuel filter question.
Fuel filter question.
So, my fuel filter keeps clogging up and when i take it off it just looks like its full of 2 stroke oil. So i was thinking of installing a high flow 300zx fuel filter like the Nissan 240sx guys do when they do SR20 swaps and what not. Would there be any problem with that, being that the 300zx filter is an EFI filter and the 12a being carbed?
My initial thought would be no problem, as you can't go wrong with more flow. My only concern would be that it might be more restrictive since it's made to handle higher EFI pressures. But I say try it. If the car feels choked, you can go back to the old style.
if the filter is clogging, i would drop the tank and have it professionally cleaned and resealed. it sounds like you are sucking up sediment and tar like gas from the tank. installing a different filter is only a bandaid.
the screen inside of the Nissan filter may be more of a finer element made for high pressure use. the element in an FB filter is paper and filters and flows at 6psi or less..

This is another option, installing two stock fuel filters with T-fittings on either end. I have done it myself and is quite easy. if you are using the stock pump, you will need some zip ties to hold up the assembly. I have now run it for 6000+ miles with no clogging, before that I was changing fuel filters every 2-3K.
The fuel tank has muck in it as others, so pulling that would be beneficial as well.
