I just got 223mi (before I HAD to get gas to make sure I don't **** up the pump) on a full tank.

Mods: 12A SidePex Monster SP, 48 IDA, RB SP exhaust, stock wheel/tire combo.

Its the best I've gotten since switching to the IDA from a DCO...I used to get 170-ish miles to a tank...that sucked. I am running conservative DD jetting tho...

peejay

my guess would be to regulate air intake through an unused vacuum port as an adjustable enleanment device where the control could be located remotely.

Would calibration and settings be determined by seat of the pants at cruising speed? and then EGT?

two many posts have said a mix too lean will raise EGT to a level that will be hamfull to interior engine components. But I have not found any exact temperature versus what gets dammaged numbers to determine limits

enlighten on enleanment please

What the heck, I just started monitoring my fuel consumption.

In May I was doing mostly short trips where the engine was barely warming up before I got to work so I was driving without the gas pedal, but just the choke. Since doing this chart I have stopped this...

This is on a stock GSL.

Your June & July figures look close to mine. I have a streetported 12A, header and stock intake/carb. Add in a heavy foot, and I average 20-22MPG. It has dropped as low as 15.1, but that required a full day on the track............ It got 26.2MPG on the trip to the track, some 300 miles from where I live.

23-24 mpg, mostly highway cruising, before I removed the rat's nest.

21-22 mpg now that it's gone. Why?

I don't know if anyone else has done a before and after on the rats nest removal. The shutter valve operation was supposed to help with fuel economy by shutting off fuel to the rear housing during deaccel.

Or you could have your vacuum source for your dist advance on the wrong nipple.

I am currently up to 29.2 MPG on my Se. :-)

Best tool is a wideband. I thought I had my Edelbrock carb dialed in well, and it drove great, but since dialing it in with the wideband it is awesome. Now I just have to go through the messy task of dialing in the Holley.

Mileage for me is about 150/tank. That's only because I can't keep my foot out of it, the whine of the supercharger is too addictive.

Thanks Doc, I've been suspicious of the shutter valve needing to function, something is powering those little backfires I get on hard deacceleration and that power ain't going to the wheels.

I have gone back and forth on the nipples, from the right one, recommended in Carl's tutorial, to the left one, which makes the car run a lot smoother and is the one I've stayed with. But I think I'll probably be putting the nest back in before the summer is out, why mess around with a good thing?

That's nice mileage on the SE, I've noticed your post on this but it's gotten too long to keep up with. How do you do it and more to the point, what, if anything, would translate to a carbed 12A? Do you still have emissions and if so, an aftermarket cat or what? What kind of driving?

Believe it or not, gas mileage is not a joke with a rotary, do the right things and it can be pretty good.

I can run safely to about 300 miles on a tank and I live on Long Island.

I would say thats not too bad in the stop and go hell that is my daily commute.

Pure highway I can get that to about 350 miles.
