fuel bleeding off

I dont drive my 7 yet. I just got it, in running condition and am in the process of restoring it. It ran fine when I first got it and I drove it around for about 5 min until i blew a brake like. I then parked it for about 2 monts and started working on the interior. I also pulled all the **** off the nikki and some of the emissions. For some reason though, if it sits over night with out it running, the fuel will bleed back into the tank or dissapear? and you have to let the fuel pump prime for 30 sec or so before it will start. the kid said he put a new fp and filter on it, any ideas?
