front wheel bearings, 1985

Just about got the motor running well, now on to other issues, and so I went to replace the front wheel bearings on the passenger side.

In the interest of reducing crap posts, I did look at the service manual, and of course it said to remove the caliper bracket (so you can get the disc off)...
Problem for me is that I cant get to the lower bolt on the caliper bracket. Part of the suspension is in the way. Seems if I could unbolt the lower ball joint and unbolt the bottom shock mount, then I could get to it, but I cant think I have to do that?!?!
As I write this, Im thinking that if I turn the wheel one way or the other maybe it will clear that part...Hmmm, maybe this was a crap post! LOL. I dunno.

Thanks!
Neil

got it. I hate that, I run into a roadblock then its straight to the internet!

Found a box end wrench that was thin enough and had the right offset and used another wrench to pry against it so it would not slip because the angle was still not ideal.
Jeez. Now, onto the bearing replacement. Should be ok, Ive done that to my boat trailers more times then I can count. Previous owner of this rex was kind enough to have left a complete set with seals under the seat. Guess its something he never got around to.

I always remove the bolt at the bottom , so I can rotate the wheel assembly and can put a socket on the nut holding the lower part of the disk caliper.

Removing one or both of the bolts that hold the steering arm to the bottom of the strut housing gives easy access to that lower caliper bracket bolt. Not a required step, if you have a box end wrench with just the right angle on it, but it sure makes it a lot more accessible.
