front sway bar bushing problems

well, i ordered the parts for my front end rebuild about 2 weeks ago and they finally showed up...just a few problems... my first question is about the front sway bar bushings on my 82 s. i ordered from acdelco and they gave me the bushings acd#45g0532 which should be the right part...i checked the delco catalogs and did some searching to make sure it was the right one....but here is my problem......i cant get the bushing to go on. the flat side that is supposed to go on the top won't fit between the bar and the chassis. any suggestions?

i tried putting it on and twisting it into position but i couldn't get it to go in, i tried putting it on the bar a bit further back and sliding it into place but it still wouldn't go in. i would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. thx

Do you have a stock front anti-sway bar or is it aftermarket.

It sounds as though the bushings are too small for the bar, do the bushings have a slit in the side so you can push them over the bar, like the stock ones do.

they do. they are supposed to be a replacement for the OEM parts. problem is i can't compare them to the factory bushings because they were already gone when i bought the car.

I had the same problem with my ST sway bar and bushings. The bushings were real tight going over the bar and too 'fat' for the holder. They did fit eventually, took generous amounts of the snot lube to get them in. The lube was the key.
