is there any brands/ PNs that anyone prefers? Im looking for excellent handling for a daily driven street car but may occasionally track it.

Rears:

I like my setup but...

But for simplest solution, go with the T3 located Here.

Or, you can build your own! (if you choose this route, verify your shock's diameter before purchasing any other components!)

This will almost duplicate the T3 setup.

Using rear ford focus (longer) or rear camaro (shorter) AGX shocks

collar
strut hat
locking ring
threaded sleeve
Spring

This is gr8 info! I will be doing this to both of my v8 rx7's! I have 2 questions
What year does the camaro shock come off? And where do I get the piece that moves the shock away from the rear axel? Nicely done on your car!

I hate to bring this back from the dead, but I plan on doing this T3 Rear conversion and was wondering what everyone did to the FRONTS.

Just the normal GC/RE-Speed front with MR2 Tokico Illuminas?

Thanks

Also curious about this. Personally, I'd prefer to have the front and rear adjustability the same - that way you dont have to learn the nuances and tricks of TWO brands of struts and perches.

I dont know enough about suspension design and engineering to know what to look for as far as compatibility and fitment.

Also - what is the ride height adjustability for one of those conversion kits versus the Re-Speed adjustable perch? I'd like to have a great street / dd setup that can be tuned for occasional track use, and also scraping weeds for stance shows and such.

The AGX shocks are total crap though. Even Miata guys say they are directly comparable to stock and Tokico or Konis would be an upgrade.

Strange Engineering will be my rear end setup. Powered by Max True coilovers with FC front subframe swap.

Odd, a lot of FC guys swear by them. Doing a search yielded only happy, returning customers. At least here on RX7 club.

Nice! This is just the thread I was hoping to stumble upon.

I'm curious to hear more about the debate over AGX being good or crap...

Its funny, over in 944 land theres always a similar debate over whether rear coilovers are feasible. Same argument about the sock mounts not being able to take the load. Seemingly no failures to be found. Then again I haven't tried to seek them out haha.

Good read!

I've only ever heard first gen guys talk **** on the AGX shox. FC, FD, Miata, Nissan, Mitsubishi guys love them.

Over the 10+ years I've been around fb's everyone touts the illuminas as ultimate. Most other tuner scenes have never even hear of them.

IOtus, I hope you're right, but then again if it makes a drifto, the Nissan/Toyota guys will buy it. Bar None.

For the same price you can get the double adjustable QA1 valved by Strange. Just seems like more of a bargain.

Gahh, I truly hate to keep bumping this thread, but I've found a bunch of alternatives to both of these.

Pretty much anything circle track related will fit along with what NoFords suggested as the top mounting "bracket." AFCO, Bilstein, Ohlins, you name it, there are TONS of "Threaded Coil-Over Shocks" **google this** that will fit your application. Whatever adjustments, heights, widths, external reservoirs, etc.

true, its a matter of shock quality and valving.

I think I'll end up going AFCO 3850R in the appropriate length and 200# springs.

A happy spring rate ratio for our cars seems to be 1.5-2.0:1 (F:R) Of course, this is debatable, but that's what tuning for your needs is all about.

If you shop around, you can find all your double adjustable setups for the same price as the TTT single adjustable AGX shocks ($700ish final to your door price). Choice is yours, but I'd rather either save $300 (for single adjustable) or go double adjustable over the TTT setup.

SORRY! Hate to misinform people on the wrong model number. It's AFCO 3850 (NO "R").

This is probably not the right length, so don't purchase this without making your own measurements:

Rear "Coil-Over" Double Adjustable AFCO Shock:
AFCO 3850 Eliminator Coil-Over Shock, Double Adjustable, 5 Inch Stroke - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

2 5/8" Springs:
AFCO Yellow 2-5/8 I.D. Coil-Over Springs, 10 Inch - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

Also with a 2 5/8" spring, there might be some clearance issues on the axle housing. Just build a spacer possibly like this if it's needed.:
