anyone tried freeze 12 in their rex?Mine is out of freon and i almost bought a retrofit package for the 134a but decided to wait.The web site is http://freeze-12.com/

It is half freon and half propane! When you stick that stuff in your system, the pressure rises much faster than R-12. Please don't think that is a good thing. You use about 30% less of it than R-12. It also does't cool quite as well although it is very close. Even if you add compressor oil to the system as advised it will still kill the compressor in short time. You probably won't get a year out of a compressor with it. It exerts alot of strain on the system. I have tried it on several occasions and have always had bad long term luck with it. I now just use R-12 and everything is fine. If you get online you can find information about various types of freons out there. I was looking hard for a long time for a substitute but never found one that is acceptable. R-12 for me. BTW: I am licensed in a/c and can buy R-12 cheaper which is also an incentive for me to keep using it.

I don't believe they produce R-12 any more. I need to get a lot of it cheap. I have a black B2600 truck that needs refilled. It's gonna suck this summer.
