Freakin' Windows!

Ok, I'm so close to getting the 85 the way I want it, its the small PIA's that I have left, such as, WINDOWS!.
I have lubed the regulators, drilled new holes for the adjustment screws, moved them all around, etc. Still, the windows go fine until they get close to the top, then will not hit the top seal/groove correctly. Almost like the glass is warped! Any ideas? These are the manual windows. Thanks!

I noticed that most new cars (any type) have a plastic do-dad at the top of windows to help guide them in place at the top. Wonder if we could retro-fit something like that? Anyone ever tried it or have another solution? I know these windows didn't do this new, something must have changed with time & wear.

the rubber felt covered sleeves around the window track is old and stiff , it used to be soft and would grip the window and hold it on track . Also , the two plastic strips on the door at the base of the window are more than likely hard and cracked (and very brittle) and these served the same purpose

as for replacement victoria british sells them , but believe it or not the dealer is less expensive about $40 us per door and Im not sure about the track strip

peace

Yep, damon, all you said is true of my rex. This makes sense, I'll start checking on prices for replacements.
Thanks!

If the rubber won't work, its the window frame. Trust me its true. You have to bend the frame! I freaked the first time I did it. I was dead sure the damn frame would pop off the door. It didn't and now it works. Check those welds first. A Mazda repair shop told me to do this! Very nerve wracking.

On top of what everyone else did, including bending the window frame, and making sure the window runner inside the door is straight and setup right, a cheap and easy band-aid fix is to spray some valvoline synthetic lubricatant or silicone spray on the door frame seals. softens them up and lets the window slide up better.

Or if you don't doing it the Manuel way, just ditch the power windows and switch to Manuel windows. I did that and it got rid of one more headache.

These are manual windows, sorry, I didn't mention that.
Took the regulator out tonight, the center pivot got lots of play. Cleaned, lubed, reinstalled. I noticed if I use my hand to help hold up the forward (left, I'm working on passenger side) side of the window as I roll it up, it goes up perfectly. Pretty sure now its the reg. Probably need to replace channels as well, 'cause if they bind, that wears the reg that much faster. Mazdatrix and Mazda want $105 for regs!!! Back to the boneyards.
'nuther words, replace all but glass! Anyone agree?

*UPDATE* Got two good regulators at the boneyard today, lubed 'em up, windows work like new! Then, got an email from a member offering me good regs, rubber, etc out of an '85.
This seems to fix these sticky manual window problems. Anyone need this stuff, email is MLauralove@aol.com.

Hope this helps someone!
