Found my radio problem!
Yesderday I put my street tires back on and went to go put the spare away and found the whole spare tire area SWIMMING with water. Pulled the drain plugs out, sopped it up with a towel, and put everything back in place. I figured it was from me sitting in the rain with the hatch open. Plus, the drainholes by the hatch glass are still plugged.
Today I went to get some papers out of the passenger side bin. The bin was soaked with water! Uh-oh. All the papers were soaked.
I pulled the bin out. The area back there was a couple inches deep with water! I pulled the driver's side bin out - dry as a bone on that side. Pulled the sound deadener out to dry in the sun, and that's when I saw the wiring.
All of the wiring to the front amp was badly corroded, and one of the wires was corroded in half! I stripped the insulation off and touched the wires together. The left front speaker started working, but not the right front. So THAT's why my front speakers stopped working! I pulled the amp out, will have to go about cleaning/replacing wires and connectors.
But first, now I gotta search about bin rust repair... If it's not in the Archives then I think it should be there, as this car is otherwise rust-free (a spot here and there but that's it). If this car has bin rust...
The driver's side is even worse rusted but it looks like it was repaired previously, and is holding. Maybe I can just get some window screening and borrow some POR-15 (note: POR-15 costs about $85 a quart COST - retail is much higher)

mine had water back in the 2 little depressions in the very back of the hatch. kind of worries me but hasn't created any rust. most all my spots are on body panels. my camry filled the spare and pockets on the side of the trunk all the time. i'm not even positive where it all came from. i'd say wrap the car with plastic and you'll be set.
