found an FB for $200 USD, runs but tranny is ripped

friend of mine had an '85 FB -GS , had it about a week, ripped transmission out of it (hes not exactly kind to the tranny) offered it to me for $200, seriously considering buying it (even though i really want either a second gen t2 or a third gen), its a start.

car will crank up in neutral and run, but the clutch is dead, wondering if any of you have any experience with this and how much it cost to get it fixed / is the car worth it..the exterior is rough, oxidized paint, no rust, spoiler is missing one tip, interior is faded and some of the plastic parts are chipping off, no rips in the seats, floor mats and all in the car.. i think its worth it but i dont really have that much money right now and i need to know how far in over my head im getting if i was to get the car

also, any 1st gen or normally aspirated 2nd gen tranny will bolt right in.

I just picked up an 83 tranny with about 110k on it for $75. Lots of good deals out there

I'm hoping someone backs me up here but I'm gonna have to say that this isn't true. I have an 88 tranny next to an 85 tranny (both off of 13B's) and they have different mounting points. True, the internals are the same. To take it a step further, I think the n/a's and TII's have the same tranny mount, but that doesn't really matter either way.

Bell housing's the same.... that's it.

The shifter is farther back or forward, can't remember for sure.... Won't fit.

Oh man, you're still contemplating buying it?!?!?!? Hell yes get it. I didn't like most of the stuff about the FB when I got my first (except the light weight of course), but I can nearly guarantee you'll love it when you get to drive it a bit.

Get the car. You'll thank yourself later on.
