yeah, underneath the license plate in back there's still some as it was originally, and you can see the difference. its actually pretty close though. I'm just happy its actually shining. lol. its so much better than I ever thought it could be.
I think I'm going to just take that front piece off and re-paint it. its to chipped to do anything with it as is.

Man, I would love to have a spark yellow SA. Back when they first came out, that was exactly what I wanted, till the FB came out. I saw a red FB in late '80, and have been torn between the 2 ever since. I have a red FB now, just need a yellow SA to complete my adulterous affair............

I will, but I don't know if you will be able to tell the difference anymore. I got the whole car done, (rubbing combound, cleaner wax[whatever that is], and then a nice coat of normal wax). it looks awesome. I'll post pics later.

anyway, I took a look at the engine today.
I tried to turn it over by hand (with a ratchet), and it moved like 1/2 inch and stopped, same thing back the other way. then I pulled out the plugs (which were SOAKED with gas), and squirted some oil in the holes, and I got it to turn over (although it had quite a bit of resistance... more than all the 13b's I've had). went to the store to get a new + battery terminal, came back, hooked up the battery, and tried to crank it over, which it did just fine. anyway, one of the fuel lines was leaking, but I did a comp. test really quick. on the rear, I got one bounce of like 15psi. all the rest were 0, and the front was all 0. I'm thinking the 0 compression may just be from being seriously flooded for 2 years.... but I can't figure out how to stop fuel from flowing.... I pulled the 'engine' fuse, and the 'regulator' fuse, which seemed to stop an electric fuel pump from turning on at just 'key on', but fuel still comes out when I crank the motor over (is it a mechanical pump?), and I can't very well crank the engine over for a bit to try and un-flood it if theres gas pouring all over the top of the motor. lol.

anyway, any help would be awesome, but whatever. hopefully I can get something positive with this little 12a pretty soon, otherwise its coming out and a 13b is going in... lol.

Sounds like the seals are badly carboned up and stuck, best case, worst case the apex seals are broke. At this point, I would try the atf trick to soften the carbon. Pour a capfull down each barrel of the carb, turn engine 180*, repeat 5 times. Let it sit for a few days, then crank it over by hand 3 full turns to push out the atf. Pull the plugs, clean then them, then try to start. Fresh plugs wouldn't hurt.

Fuel pump is electric. There is a solenoid on the carb that shuts off fuel flow when power is off. This may be the cause of flooding. As long as the car has sat, the carb probably needs gone through.

So the Denver metro area is getting rid of emissions? Where did the brown cloud go?

cool. I will give this a try.
