What does the system consit of that supposdly Pwnts the RB setup

BTW I have a flowmaster 40 series on my 74 pinto, its just Stock Manifold to a straight pipe to the muffler, let me just say it rattles the windows at idle, I cant imagine what it would do on a Rotary.

RB road race header you know the dual outlet one into a borla XR-1 that is the presilencer back into duals into apexi apexi N! style cans angled out and up a bit. Just listen to ddubs car and thats basically what it sounds like.

i have a 84 gs, streetport 12a, bonez intake, msd ignition, stock header(yeah im broke), 3in pipe to a hi-flow cat into flowmater... been on the car for three years now without issue. sounds "ok" not too awful loud though it will trip car alarms in parking garages. of course when the money is available a full rb setup is ideal, for now however, exhaust was 400 installed... had a buddy put a packed 'autozone' muff on his gs...that thing swelled and popped like a can of beans with the botulism... the higher seires flowmasters seem well built enough for the rotary rigors.

Eric, if you haven't installed headers and still have the stock exhaust manifold, you might consider a bonez "race pipe" presilencer. It bolts directly to the stock exhaust manifold and back to the connector pipe, an exact replacement for the cats in your 85 GSL. I got mine from a place in Texas, Rotary Performance - here's the web page.

http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/saexhaust.html

It was about $150 shipped with the gaskets. It's real easy to install, I've used mine in all three of my GSLs and can pull and replace it in less than an hour (about ten minutes, really, once the car is jacked up). It is also well made, I've had mine for 3 or 4 years and a total of about 70,000 miles and it's still like new.

The best part is the boost in power and fuel economy, which is immediately noticeable. Also I really like the sound, not too loud or tinny, a nice resonating rumble with my stock mufflers. Not sure how the flowmaster would sound, maybe a bit louder but all the more reason for some kind of presilencer.

Ray
