Thumbs up Flow Testng

While skipping across the forum yesterday, I read, and answered a post. Came to learn something new (notching of rotors thanks Rotary God)(also for links) so My post is this,

1. How many of you porters flowtest,

2. did you build or buy the bench

3. commercial benches which work best for rotaries?

4. Lastly has anybody built a homemade one and got detailed instructions for building another

I think Stirling talked about having one, but could be wrong?

I personally have ported quite a few N/A's but have never flow tested, some worked great, and honestly some where real dogs. So I am personally very interested in building a flow bench and trying it out. How bout ya all?

1- Im a noob at porting rotaries, but I will be flowtesting the ports when done. I built mine primarily for flowtesting carbs, intakes, airboxes, headers etc.

2- Built (too poor/cheap to buy one).

3- www.superflow.com has good info. I like orifice benches, but a LFE would work fine too.

4- Theres a flowbench and dyno forum on the net. Ill try and find the link.

Talking Domo!

I checked out the superflow web page, a little afraid to mail them and ask prices (if ya have to ask, ya can't afford it) .... I had seen that web page once when doing a search, and that, and a previous post are what made me think to ask how you guys that had built your own did it. I either own, or have acess to most of the standard fabricating tools (including a blue bullet pipe bender) and made my own exhaust manifold for my cosmo. I would really like to port it, but I need t get a set of FD houseings first, as the stock exhaust area is pretty screwed up on these things, and like I said before I have ported some, and had them run like a BTOH, Ive ported some and had them run like ****, would really like to get more consistent and the flow bench seems to be the way to go.

anybody got plans on how to build one?

ken

Doesn't hurt to ask, what are they going to do to you? Give it a shot I always ask for prices not because I can't afford it, because I'm looking for the best price.

Good luck man. Its alot of work to build one, also a bit of $, but its an invaluable tool to have. My next toy to build is an engine dyno. Thats gonna be big $ though.
