Flooding since recent carburetor rebuild.

Okay I rebuilt my carburetor and it was running great for about 20 minutes. Then the leaves on the exhaust started smoldering. But that's not the problem. When I put the key in to start the car, I can hear the pump going and when I check the carb, loads of fuel is being dumped in all 4 barrels. What is going on? It won't start due to flooding and I'm a bit worried that all of the fuel that's been forced out is sitting in my exhaust pipe waiting to ignite.

Wait a while for the gas to dissipate.

Check the 'carb wire' and make sure it's connected. Everyone seems to forget about it.

Thanks guys, I checked all of that. The wire was connected so I cleaned it up. Now just the primaries are loading up. There were 3 connectors by the drivers side that look the same on the same loom. How do I know which one should be plugged in because 2 aren't.

Black wire with a white stripe. It is on whenever the key is on.

Okay I tooled around with the carb and found I was leaking fuel out of the top where the lines go in. I timed it now. 15 seconds after I turn the key the front primary starts dripping. A minute after I turn the key the front secondary starts pouring out fuel and the rear primary starts dripping.

I was reading the FAQ on flooding and it said the solenoid below the OMP line inlet. But I have a tube that goes down to a something by the 3 solenoids on the block. If I pull that off the fuel really starts flowing. Is this the right solenoid? I thought it was the one above the OMP lines.

Did you adjust the float level?

I didn't adjust the floats, I checked them in water, so I know they don't fill up with liquid. I even measured after I installed them and they were still at the specs it says. I think I've got crap plugging the float needles. Probably drop the tank in a few weeks and get it boiled then take the carb apart again.

Well I whacked the crap outta the carb with the plastic handle on a fairly large screwdriver until it stopped shooting gas out. Anyways, I guess I'll keep that nearby. Now I have to wait for all of the gas to dissapate and grab some more electricity.
