Question Fixed Headlights

Does anyone know where i can find a fixed position headlight conversion kit. I have Seen them on a few rx7, not knowing if they are custom fabricated or come in a kit form. If anyone has any information for me, please let me know.

I have just finished designing a flush light kit for the 1st gen. They have mold formed lexan covers for a complete factory look. Will be posted on the CP Racing site very soon and ready for sale. No price yet but it will be very affordable.

The real cost is in the lamps themselves. Buying projector lamps that will let you see safely will run hundreds of dollars. D.Stern and I have done a few studies on this, and the kits with roadworthy headlights always come in at a price higher than most 1st gen owners are willing to pay.

And I refuse to sell a headlight kit with dangerous headlights.

You still have to match the lamps to your wiring. Hooking up the wrong sort of projection lamps could cause an electrical fire in the harness.

and?

It isn't like it is hard.

I've seen harder things done with case mods.

yep and im in the same boat with the sleepy eyed kits in all the light i have "tested" my cost on them when im buying in bulk is still well over 200$ per kit, plus the buckets, wiring kits and all makes them a EAZY 400$+ kit
and im also including a prewired wire/relay kit so all you would do is plug the wires in to the stock harness and hook it to the battery and install the new buckets and hook that up and blam new lights, power and a BadAssRX-7 look....

if you have the proper lamps and know wiring, yes. But when making a product for sale the trick is to make it idiotproof. If only one person hooks it up wrong and starts a fire under their hood, trashing their car, and posts pics in here about it... how many people are likely to buy the light kit after that? Especially at $400 - $900 a pop for a headlight kit when some people paid that for their whole car?

on a $20,000 FD, maybe a light kit costing that much makes sense. Not on the average FB.

seems to be a small price for those that pay $7K+ to paint a FB.

It seems that people are pretty technically savvy around here. Don't sell them short. Plus, I would make any prototype out of as many parts from salvage yard as possible.

there seems to be several cars that could have the right sized lights to do this; integra, several hundai,vw pasat, audi a4 are a few that come to mind. you could use a reflector set up off something like a buick rendezvous all of these could be found in a junk yard and cheep, all dot approved and would give ample lighting. So I guess that removes the hitting a moose or whatever at night with bad lights excuse.( here in florida it would be an aligator) there are a number of threads in differant forums showing this set up could be done very cheaply, I have even read one here in the 2nd gen section that showed it could be done for around $40 per side excluding reflectors&bulbs. so it seams expense might not warrant a high price. If you look at some of the stock plastic assemblies on cars with this type of lights and know about plastic molding/casting it realy is a joke how cheep these could be made and sold for. a kit could be made by someone with access this type of tools and retail them for $150 for a set and still make a good profit. its to bad I do not have access to this. but I know there are people here that do. so dont let anyone fool you with an argument about cost or effective lighting. It can be done and has been done. there is a sight telling how I think it is a feiro site. I will try to find it.
