Five electrical gremlins --> Same cause?

Now that Caitlin is back on the road and most of the big issues are taken care of, it's time to work on the minor, yet annoying, things.

Since I bought her last year, the over-rev buzzer, the headlight warning ding, the seatbelt warning, and the ignition key buzzer have never worked. Plus, the dome light only turns on in the ON position, never in the DOOR position (the two-way map light works fine). What I'm wondering is if all five are caused by the same bad connection somewhere.

As for the dome light, I've checked the normally closed momentary plunger switches on the doors and they look fine to me. I don't know where to look for all the other dings, dongs, and buzzers, though.

Like I said, these are minor annoyances, but I'd like to get them resolved. Any help is appreciated!

-Jay (Is so happy to just have her back...)

Looks like you're having as much success getting people to help you out as I am!

What year model is your 7?
Check the wiring diagrams at http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/manuals.html

wish i could help but my ignition key buzzer is messed up also, and i can see the seatbelt warning light it just won't beep lol, my door dome light used to be messed up but i squirted some WD-40 on the door switches (they appeared to be in good shape but obviously they had some rust or build up or something) and they worked again....other than that i don't know man lol.

It very well could be all one problem, I believe the oscillator (sp?) controls those functions, and for whatever reason its located in the engine bay right near the driver side headlight. Its a small black box, kinda looks like a relay. One of my 83's exibits some of those problems, but I haven't taken the time to diagnose it yet.
Hopefully someone can confirm this though

The oscillator is not responsible for the over-rev buzzer - it is seperate. The dome light not working in DOOR position is going to be a different cause, but the other problems may be related to the oscillator or CPU. You need to read the wiring diagrams.

All those components, as well as the turn signal flasher, are controlled by the CPU. It is above the left side kick panel, under the dash. You'll find it in Section 15, Body Electrical in the FSM.

Hmm true the over-rev buzzer is something else, but then I don't believe 83's even have the over-rev buzzer, its only a 84/85 thing... At least none of the 83's I've driven have it...
Look for dirty or loose connections to start with. Especially since the oscillator is in the engine bay up front where water and salt can corrode the connections easily...
